PeaZip is a free file archiver utility. The application provides an unified, natively portable, cross-platform file manager and archive manager GUI for many Open Source technologies like 7-Zip, FreeArc, PAQ, UPX.
Create: 7Z, ARC, Brotli, BZip, GZip, PEA, TAR, WIM, XZ, ZPAQ, ZIP, Zstandard files and more
Open and extract 200+ file types: ACE, CAB, DEB, ISO, RAR, ZIPX and more
Features of PeaZip includes extract, create and convert multiple archives at once, edit existing archives, create self-extracting archives (sfx), split files, strong encryption with two factor authentication, encrypted password manager, secure deletion, find duplicate files, calculate hashes, export task definition as command line script.
PeaZip 7.4 introduces GUI refresh, improves working with 7Z, ARC, PEA, RAR, and ZIPX archive types. It is now possible to use new fast compression algorithms in 7Z format: Brotli, Fast-LZMA2, Lizard, LZ4, LZ5, and Zstandard are now available, providing faster-than-Deflate compression with better speed-to-compression-ratio efficiency. PEA now supports multiple cascade encryption, i.e. AES+Twofish+Serpent, each 256 bit in EAX mode. RAR archives are now fully read-write supported from PeaZip if Rar.exe is featured in the system: it is possible to update, edit, rename, and delete files in existing RAR archives, and more RAR-specific options are supported (set comment, lock archive, header encryption, set recovery records percentage). ZIPX archives can now be edited, and it is possible to optionally use .zipx extension when creating non-Deflate compressed .zip archives. It is now possible to repair ARC and RAR files, and even to attempt recovery if the archive cannot be opened for browsing. 7.4.2 update brings FLZMA2, LZ4, and Zstd support for 7z archives on Linux, improves file management, and provides fixes.
(Linux) p7zip 16.02 superseded by szcnick/p7zip fork 17.02, not available for legacy 32 bit platforms: added support for FLZMA2, LZ4, and Zstd compression algorithms in .7z format; algorithm selection dropdown is now common to all platforms, unsupported algorithms for one platform are preceded with / (currently unsupported /Brotli, /Lizard, and /LZ5 on linux)
(Windows) File manager now displays icons for exe files for better usability, using a separate thread; previously the feature was enabled only if browser was set to show thumbnails
In-archive "Extract and open with PeaZip" and "Preview with PeaZip" now forces trying to open file as archive, as in "Open as archive" menu entry
EXTRACTION and ARCHIVING
(Windows) Drop target window is locked, as in WinRar, until drag and drop operation is completed
If password contains characters that can be troublesome if used in scripts (i.e. quotes) it is now possible to interactively enter password in console to create / extract archive types handled through 7z/p7zip, ARC, and RAR backends
