Software Map

Synfig is a powerful, industrial-strength,
vector-based 2D animation software package,
designed from the ground-up for producing
feature-film quality animation with fewer people
and resources.

Chemtool is a GTK+-based 2D chemical structure editor for X11. Drawings can be exported in XFig format for further annotation, or as Postscript files (using xfig's companion program transfig). A set of sample molecular structure drawings is included in the archive.

E.T. EDITOR is a graphical editor for designing three-dimensional
graphs consisting of colored edges and triangles. The intention is to
make the modeling process as direct as possible. E.T. TRAVELER lets
you view the scenes designed with the E.T. EDITOR. It simulates
traveling inside the scene.

dxf2fig parses Autocad DXF input, then calls external routines to do
either plotting or a fig conversion for xfig. The conversion is fairly
complete. Layers (depths in xfig), blocks (compounds in xfig), colors,
and linetypes are roughly preserved in the output file.

pngtoico is a small utility to convert a set of
PNG images to Microsoft ICO format. Transparency
is supported.

vsdviewer is a MS Visio Drawing and Stencil
(VSD/VSS) import filter for the sK1 vector editor
and UniConvertor. It can also be used as a
standalone viewer.

PDFMap is a command line tool and Python library which eases the creation of very high quality maps in PDF format. You can place objects on the maps. Each object can be represented by either a shape or an image, and is scaled and rotated to reflect its original dimensions and orientation. You can make each object clickable in Adobe Acrobat Reader (e.g., to access a Web-enabled application from which you've extracted the data used to create the map).

mtPaint is a simple GTK+1/2 painting program
designed for creating icons and pixel-based
artwork. It can edit indexed palette or 24 bit RGB
images and offers basic painting and palette
manipulation tools. Its main file format is PNG,
although it can also handle JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP,
TGA, XPM, and XBM files.

Jarnal is a java based notetaking/sketching application
similar to Microsoft One-Note. For tablet PCs it provides
the ability to take handwritten notes; for desktop PCs it
allows users to take notes using the mouse (or more
sensibly) using the keyboard. Each page is stored in SVG
format, and the SVG pages are stored in a standard Zip
file.

The GLIPS Graffiti editor is a cross-platform SVG
graphics editor based on Batik and developed by
ITRIS. It features shape tools (rectangles,
circles, ellipses, lines, polygons, and
polylines), path tools (Bezier curves, conversion
to a path, union, subtraction, and intersection),
basic text support, and image import (SVG or
Bitmap). Supported transformations are translate,
resize, rotate, and skew. A property manager is
available for each object, and a resource manager
takes care of gradients, patterns, markers, and
filters. It requires Java VM 1.4.1 or higher. It
is a part of the GLIPS Project, which aims to be a
PLC cross-platform development environment.
