superzoom zooms your pictures in very high quality.
You won't notice edges when zooming in, and you
can also scale in non-integer steps. For example,
you can zoom your image to 3.234 times it's original
size, and you won't notice any artifacts from it.

bitedit is a simple ncurses program for editing a file. It allows you to directly edit of the individual bits of a binary file in a graphical fashion. It is useful for editing bitmap font files.

ida is a small and fast image viewer for X11. A simple file browser and some basic editing functions are available too.

MultiSlice RTP is a radiotherapy treatment
planning and medical image processing system
developed for Silicon Graphics MIPS architecture
systems and the IRIX operating system (5.3 and
above). It allows you to manipulate upto 20 2D CT
image slices as one 3D slice and run bulk batch
processing algorithms on the images loaded.
Written in C and linked against the MOTIF toolkit,
it also runs on Xfree/Linux/Lesstif and can load
RAW CT images from a CT scanner directly.

Photovault is an image archiving and organization
application for photographers. It supports easy
searching, annotation, and organization of images,
as well as simple image processing operations like
cropping and free rotation.

symTone is a dual cursor image manipulation
program that allows users to easily and
intuitively edit their digital photos using two
mice and two cursors. symTone requires that the
user plug in two extra three-button USB mice (in
addition to their laptop touchpad or their desktop
mouse). Mice with a scroll wheel as the middle
mouse button will work fine. Only the PNG file
format is currently supported.

Unix Image Manager is an advanced image processor
that allows users to resize and filter images, or
multiply, add, etc. images with other images or a
given value.

Pinta is a drawing/editing program modeled after Paint.NET. Its goal is to provide a simplified alternative to GIMP for casual users. It currently supports most basic drawing tools, unlimited layers, unlimited undo history, and a wide array of image adjustments and effects.

The Java Vision Toolkit is an advanced imaging GUI/
library for machine vision and image processing
applications. It provides a framework for machine vision
and image processing algorithms for 2D and 3D images.

KolourPaint is an easy-to-use paint program for KDE.
Features include undo/redo, more than a dozen tools,
selections, transparent image editing and zoom support (with
an optional grid and thumbnail).

imagelink is a collection of image editing and
conversion command line utilities. It integrates
the netpbm philosophy and it is meant to be used
in conjunction with netpbm.

Tile Driller is a simple paint program for people, who want to draw tile-based graphics pixel by pixel. Editing takes place in 32bit RGBA color space, allowing you to easily paint the alpha channel. It reads BMP, JPEG, PCX, PNG, and TGA images, but writes only PNG images.

gradient-fu is a patch for the GIMP that exposes the functionality of the gradient editor to scripts and plug-ins. It creates entries in the GIMP PDB for all the common gradient editing routines.
