Linux Test Project is a joint project started by SGI, OSDL, and Bull developed and maintained by IBM, Cisco, Fujitsu, SUSE, Red Hat, Oracle, and others. The project goal is to deliver tests that validate the reliability, robustness, and stability of Linux. Currently it contains more than 1000 syscall test cases, I/O and AIO stress test cases, a few Linux kernel device drivers, a well maintained fork of the Open POSIX Testsuite, a real-time test suite, and more.
abcde is a frontend to cdparanoia, wget, cd-discid, id3, and your favorite Ogg Vorbis (the default), MP3, FLAC, Ogg Speex, or MPP (Musepack) encoder. It grabs an entire CD and converts each track to the desired format, then comments or ID3-tags each file, all with one command. It supports multiple output in a single CD read, the creation of a single track from a CD, resume operation, CD concatenation, volume normalization, gapless encoding (with LAME), parallelization, SMP, proxies, customizable filename organization and munging, playlist generation, distributed encoding via distmp3, and more.

sole purpose is to protect the networks on which
it is installed.
cdist is a usable configuration management system. It adheres to the KISS principle and is being used in both small and enterprise-grade environments. It is an alternative to other configuration management systems like cfengine, bcfg2, chef, and puppet.

FireHOL a simple yet powerful way to configure stateful iptables firewalls. It can be used for almost any purpose, including control of any number of internal/external/virtual interfaces, control of any combination of routed traffic, setting up DMZ routers and servers, and all kinds of NAT. It provides strong protection (flooding, spoofing, etc.), transparent caches, source MAC verification, blacklists, whitelists, and more. Its goal is to be completely abstracted and powerful but also easy to use, audit, and understand.
MoSShE (MOnitoring in Simple SHell Environment) is a simple,
lightweight (both in size and system requirements) server monitoring
package designed for secure and in-depth monitoring of a handful of
typical/critical Internet systems. It supports email alerts and SLA
monitoring out of the box, and whatever you can script. The system is
programmed in plain (Bourne) SH, and made to be compatible with BASH and
Busybox so it can easily be deployed on embedded systems. Monitoring
is designed to be distributed over multiple systems, usually running
locally. As no parameters are accepted from the outside, checks cannot
be tampered or misused from outside. The system is designed to allow
decentralized checks and evaluation as well as classical agent-based
checks with centralized data accumulation. Agent data is transferred via
HTTP, so available Web servers can be co-used for agent data transfer.
Each agent creates simple (static) HTML pages with full and condensed
status reports on each system, allowing simple local checks.
wview is an application that controls a supported weather station to retrieve archive records and current conditions. Archive records may optionally be stored in a relational database (MySQL or PostgreSQL). At a user-defined interval, wview will use the archive history and current conditions to generate weather images (buckets and graphs) and Web pages based on configurable HTML templates. It supports serial and USB data loggers, as well as connectivity with a terminal server or serial server via TCP sockets.

nss-pam-ldapd is a Name Service Switch module and Pluggable Authentication Module using an LDAP server. It allows your LDAP server to provide user account, group, host name, alias, netgroup, and almost any other information that you would normally get from /etc flat files or NIS, and allows you to do authentication to an LDAP server.
mkCDrec (Make CD-ROM Recovery) makes a bootable (El Torito) disaster recovery image, including backups of the Linux system to one or more CD-ROM(s) (multi-volume sets). Otherwise, the backups can be stored on another disk, NFS/CIFS disk, or (remote) tape. After a disk crash or system intrusion, the system can be booted from the CD-ROM and one can restore the complete system as it was. It also features disk cloning, which allows one to restore a disk to another disk (the destination disk does not have to be of the same size, as it calculates the partition layout itself). Currently, ext2, ext3, minix, MS-DOS, FAT, VFAT, Reiserfs, XFS, and JFS filesystems are supported. It can restore disks in Software RAID and LVM mode. It supports the One Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR) mode, which simulates a bootable CD-ROM on tape.
The Mandos system allows computers to have encrypted root file systems and at the same time be capable of remote or unattended reboots. The computers run a small client program in the initial RAM disk environment which will communicate with a server over a network. All network communication is encrypted using TLS. The clients are identified by the server using an OpenPGP key that is unique to each client. The server sends the clients an encrypted password. The encrypted password is decrypted by the clients using the same OpenPGP key, and the password is then used to unlock the root file system.
Mondo Rescue archives Linux and Linux/Windows systems to tapes, CDs, DVDs, USB devices, or ISO images that may be used to restore some or all of your OS and data in the event of catastrophic data loss, or for cloning a system. The emphasis is on stability and ease of use. Currently, ext2, ext3, ext4, (v)fat, minix, ReiserFS, XFS, and JFS filesystems are supported, as are RAID, DM, Multipath, and LVM.

iana-etc installs /etc/services and /etc/protocols using data from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority. Included are snapshots of the data from the IANA, scripts to transform that data into the needed formats, and scripts to fetch the latest data.
