The MirBSD Korn Shell (mksh) is an actively developed successor of pdksh (the Public Domain Korn Shell), aimed at producing a shell good for interactive use, but with the primary focus on scripting. It is intended to be portable to most *nix-like operating systems as long as they're not too obscure. mksh incorporates improvements from OpenBSD and Debian, as well as bugfixes and enhancements developed for the MirOS, FreeWRT, and MidnightBSD projects and Android. The emacs command line editing mode is UTF-8 capable, and Byte Order Marks are ignored in scripts. The shell supports large files, as well as all pdksh and some csh, AT&T ksh, zsh, and GNU bash features, is compatible with the Bourne shell and POSIX (within limits), has no limit on array sizes, and incorporates some other useful builtins and features. While being already fast and small (without losing functionality), flags to make it even smaller can be given at compile time. An interactive shell reads "~/.mkshrc" on startup.

FAM, the File Alteration Monitor, provides an API which applications can use to be notified when specific files or directories are changed. It comes in two parts: fam, the daemon which listens for requests and delivers notification, and libfam, a library which client applications can use to communicate with fam.

Chemtool is a GTK+-based 2D chemical structure editor for X11. Drawings can be exported in XFig format for further annotation, or as Postscript files (using xfig's companion program transfig). A set of sample molecular structure drawings is included in the archive.
Email Security through Procmail (the Procmail Sanitizer) provides methods to sanitize email, removing obvious exploit attempts and disabling the channels through which exploits are delivered. Facilities for detecting and blocking Trojan Horse exploits and worms are also provided.
GLAME (GNU/Linux Audio Mechanics) is meant to be the GIMP of audio processing. It is designed to be a powerful, fast, stable, and easily extensible sound editor for Linux and compatible systems. It has full support for non-destructive editing including undo/redo and applying
LADSPA effects. Its supported platforms are Linux, BSD, IRIX, and OS X. It uses guile and libxml, and the GNOME libs available is highly recommended. MP3 and Ogg files can be processed if libmad and libvorbisfile are installed.
The GNOME Structured File Library is a utility library for reading and writing structured file formats. Support for MS OLE2 streams is complete, as is zip import. There is also support for document metadata and some initial work on decompressing VBA streams in OLE files for future conversion to other languages. This library replaces libole2 and is used in gnumeric, mrproject, abiword, libwv2, koffice. It is also part of the AAF format.

NNFS (Non-Networked File System) provides a
consistent file system over several non-networked
Unix computers (or slow networked).
The modular syslog allows for an easy implementation of input and output modules. The modules that mantain compatibility with its precursor are included in the standard distribution along with four modules: om_peo (an implementation of PEO-1 and L-PEO, two algorithmic protocols for integrity checking), om_mysql and om_pgsql (modules that sends output to a mysql and postgresql database, respectively) and om_regex (a module that allows output redirection using regular expressions).
Jmx4Perl provides an alternate way of accessing Java JEE Server management interfaces that are based on JMX (Java Management Extensions). It is an agent-based approach where a small Web application deployed on the application server provides HTTP/JSON-based access to JMX MBeans registered within the application server. It is set up from a handful of Perl modules, which can be integrated seamlessly in your own programs. It also includes a Nagios plugin, check_jmx4perl, a jmx4perl command line tool for remote JMX queries and operations, and a readline-based JMX shell j4psh, with context sensitive command completion and syntax highlighting.
Cactus is a general, modular, parallel environment for solving systems of partial differential
equations. The code has been developed over many years by a large international collaboration of numerical relativity and computational science research groups and can be used to provide a portable platform for solving any system of partial differential equations.
The Vision Egg is a programming library (with demo applications) that uses standard, inexpensive computer graphics cards to produce visual stimuli for vision research experiments.

built-in support for interfacing with PGP, GPG,
ispell/aspell, faces, LDAP, and esound. It runs on
most Unix variants.
