The Advanced Linux Sound Architecture is composed of several parts. The first is a fully modularized sound driver which supports module autoloading, devfs, isapnp autoconfiguration, and gives complete access to analog audio, digital audio, control, mixer, synthesizer, DSP, MIDI, and timer components of audio hardware. It also includes a fully-featured kernel-level sequencer, a full compatibility layer for OSS/Free applications, an object-oriented C library which covers and enhances the ALSA kernel driver functionality for applications (client/server, plugins, PCM sharing/multiplexing, PCM metering, etc.), an interactive configuration program for the driver, and some simple utilities for basic management.

Qsynth is a GUI front-end application for
Fluidsynth. Fluidsynth is a command-line software
synthesizer based on the Soundfont specification.
Qsynth was built with the Qt4 toolkit using Qt
Designer. Eventually it may evolve into a
softsynth management application that allows the
user to control and manage a variety of command
line softsynths, but it currently just wraps the
excellent Fluidsynth program.
TerminatorX is a realtime audio synthesizer that
allows you to "scratch" on digitally sampled
audio data (*.wav, *.au, *.mp3, etc.) the way
hiphop-DJs scratch on vinyl records. It features
multiple turntables, realtime effects (built-in
as well as LADSPA plugin effects), a sequencer,
and an easy-to-use GTK+ GUI.

CLAM is a multiplatform software framework for research and application development for the Audio and Music domains. It offers a conceptual model for building systems as well as tools for the analysis, synthesis, and transformation of audio signals using high level representation (notes, spectral peaks, etc.). It also provides multiplatform system abstraction and tools for audio and MIDI file handling, device handling, GUI and XML support, and more. It has proper Linux audio architecture integration (Ladspa, Alsa, OSC, Jack, VST, etc.) and rapid graphical prototyping both for the processing core and the user interface (Qt designer integration).

GNU GTick is a metronome application. It features a
scale from 10 beats per minute to 1000 BPM and
arbitrary beat modes (meters). It uses GTK+2 and
cwtext converts ASCII streams in stdin to ASCII Morse code (dotscii) or to audio suitable for >/dev/dsp on Linux and other platforms. It also has a collection of tools for pulling info from the Internet and presenting it in Morse code.
Bristol Audio Synthesiser is an emulator for diverse keyboard instruments. Currently about 20 are implemented: various Moog, Sequencial Circuits, Oberheim, Yamaha, Roland, Hammond, Korg, ARP, and Vox algorithms. The application consists of an audio engine and an associated graphical user interface called Brighton which acts as a dedicated master keyboard for each emulation.

supporting tempo changes, meter changes, and more.
It allows you to define complex tempo maps for

AZR3-JACK is a port of the free VST plugin AZR-3.
It is a tonewheel organ with drawbars, distortion
and rotating speakers. The original was written by
Rumpelrausch Täips. The organ has three sections,
two polyphonic with 9 drawbars each and one
monophonic bass section with 5 drawbars. The two
polyphonic sections respond to events on MIDI
channel 1 and 2, and an optional keyboard split
function makes the bass section listen to the
lower keys on channel 1. The three sections have
separate sustain and percussion switches as well
as separate volume controls, and the two
polyphonic sections have separate vibrato
settings. All three sections are mixed and sent
through the distortion effect and the rotating
speakers simulator, where the modulation wheel can
be used to switch between fast and slow rotation,
and the fast and slow rotation speeds themselves
can be changed separately for the lower and upper
