Synonym is a flexible Milter-based extension
running on top of Sendmail allowing mail
administrators to copy SMTP traffic to a specified
mailbox, and drop and reject emails based on
regular expression filters.

DJIGZO Email Encryption Gateway is a centrally managed email server that encrypts and decrypts incoming and outgoing email at the gateway level. Djigzo currently supports two encryption standards: S/MIME and PDF encryption. The built-in Data Leak Prevention (DLP) module can be used to prevent certain information from leaving the organization via email. DLP can be configured to filter on credit card numbers, bank account numbers, excessive amounts of email addresses or other personal information in one email message, and more. hermes is a generic, transparent and multi-platform
anti-spam SMTP proxy that uses a combination of
techniques (like greylisting, throttling, DNS white/blacklisting, SPF, etc.) to stop spam from reaching your mailbox. Many mailboxes see a 98% spam reduction with no false positives, as hermes is not filtering email based on content, but on strict adherence to the SMTP standards. It's also compatible with most SMTP extensions like STARTTLS (for SSL security) and SMTP-AUTH (for
user authentication).

The Java Apache Mail Enterprise Server (Apache James) is a 100% pure Java server, designed to be a complete and portable enterprise mail engine solution based on currently available open protocols (SMTP, POP3, NNTP). It requires Java 2 (minimum requirement is the JRE 1.4).

Jsmtpd is a small and modular SMTP server daemon.

filters. Filtering is done with a customisable
tree of filters. Almost all functionality is implemented as plugins, making it easy to fit your needs.

Sendooway is a multi-user and multi-target ESMTP proxy that acts as mail transfer agent. Instead of configuring SMTP servers and authentication data for every mail identity on every device, it allows you to configure them centrally. Sendooway automatically uses the correct smarthost, logs on with the user's account data, and sends their mail.

Secure MTA is a daemon for SMTP passwords and a
starter for ssmtp or msmtp.

Sendmail-TLS is a wrapper for Sendmail which allows for clients to make a secure (SSL) connection to their mailserver as described in RFC 2487. The connection is internally forwarded to sendmail and does not require sendmail to be running on port 25. Clients which support this currently are Netscape Messenger, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Outlook Express.

Scam-backscatter is a milter that prevents
backscatter on mail servers which don't host
mailboxes locally. It validates mailboxes by
verifying the recipient addresses hosted on a
different mail server.

Sendmail::Milter to easily determine if a recipient is
a "willing recipient" of spam, or if a particular site
has been explicitly whitelisted, so that mail from
there is not blocked. It also allows generic lookups.
