This is handy for, e.g., public server migration purposes, but I don't think we need two interfaces indefinitely. Let's deprecate /metamessage command - make it to warn about that when used, and deprecation warnings are enabled.
I could accept change like this even after d3f, but it's better to get in before - it would not be ideal to deprecate something that people may have use in their supposedly frozen format .serv files as not-deprecated.
