Akregator is a KDE RSS aggregator. It supports the
best known metaphors from existing aggregators. It
also facilitates good integration with KDE by
maintaining an interface similar to Konqueror and
KMail.

This beta introduces several features, such as an
improved internal browser, better notification,
column sorting, an overall polished GUI, and
improved stability. This is most likely the last
beta before the final Akregator 1.0, released as
part of KDE-PIM 3.4.
This release features improved tabbed browsing, an RSS icon in Konqueror for convenient addition of auto-detected feeds, and a lot of bugfixes. Beta7 had some compatibility issues which have been fixed: akregator and its Kontact plugin work with all KDE versions from KDE 3.2 to CVS HEAD. Translations are finally included, and this release is available in twenty languages.
In this version, the archive size can be limited now so that
one can either set the maximum of articles to keep or expire
articles whose age exceeds a certain limit. Keyboard
behavior is now similar to KMail's. The article viewer can be
scrolled via Up/Down, move in the feed list via Alt+Cursors,
etc. Some bugs regarding switching views and update were
fixed. Also, rendering a feed with many articles should be a
lot faster now.
The focus of the release was enhanced usability.
Akregator has shed its old cumbersome multi-window
interface and instead now uses a standard feed
list. Additionally, feed lists are now saved on
the fly without any user interaction. A number of
new features were also added. Akregator can now be
configured to popup a notification balloon when
new articles are fetched. Lots of bugs and crashes
have been fixed. Many session management fixes
were made. The kontact part works much more
reliably now.
