FreeRails is a multiplayer RTS game inspired by Sid Meier's classic Railroad Tycoon. Development activity is currently focused on completing the feature set and adding AI players.

The ability to pay off loans was implemented. A stock and bond market were added along with more information in the train list. Many of the reported bugs were fixed.
Over 50 bugs have been fixed. The user interface for laying, upgrading, and removing track has been significantly improved. There are new, more realistic graphics for the track.
The track-building UI now uses an A* pathfinder to pick the best route for the track. There is an option to use automatic train schedules that decide which wagons to add to a train based on the cargo waiting at the current station and demand at the next station. Many other minor features have been added and bugs fixed.
