iPod Nano/Video users who experienced crashes or
failure when opening the Photo Database should
test this release, since it fixes the parser code
to properly handle Photo Databases generated on
Macs, probably by iPhoto. There is also a new
"iPod info" dialog from the help menu.
This release should fix the handling of fullscreen
images for iPod Photo and Color models, both on
the iPod itself and on the thumbnails view of the
application. GPixPod now avoids managing ext2/ext3
iPodLinux partitions for photos and Photo
Database, which always reside on the vfat
partition. An improved icon and logo are included.
This release implements threads, allowing faster processing, especially on multi-core/multi-processors machines. It has detailed progress indication when opening and saving. Photo references have been added: photos can be added in multiple places, and their links deleted and recovered.
Opening is now much faster since thumbs use a
checksum instead of copying. Thumbs are updated on
saving. Extracting is only done when a checksum
fails. An option to choose where the thumbnail
cache should be kept was added. Some RGB565
functions were speeded up using the operator
module. Speed was improved when opening or saving
when extracting or rebuilding thumbs. Treeview was
fixed when selecting an album for the first time.
The addition, removal, and display of photos with
accented or other non-ASCII characters was fixed.
Cross-platform packing and unpacking was fixed by
specifying little-endian order.
Photo databases generated by iTunes are loaded properly with the option to not copy full resolution images. There is a global option to copy/not copy full resolution images. There is a new Add Photo with or without full resolution individual actions buttons. You can add/remove full resolution images for existing photos. All iPod thumbnails are shown in a dedicated page on the new notebook-based right details pane. There is a new Spanish translation, 1Gb iPod Nano model support, slight optimization of the full resolution image display process, and a lot of other little bugfixes.
