Given your intimation from 2017-09-12, is there any strong objection to reverting to having (say) two, or perhaps three distinct ticket types? At least:
* Issues (or Bugs)
* Feature Requests
and optionally, (although maybe we should actively discourage this -- by simply '''not''' providing it -- in favour of the mailing list):
* Support
If it is possible to change the type, after creation, then we can correct the misdemeanours of those who file bug reports, where they should be filing feature requests; if turns out that we can't, we always have recourse to the option of rejecting inappropriately filed tickets. We could also spell out, in filing instructions, guidelines for appropriate choice of ticket type.
I'd really like to keep the logical association, which it implies, of "Component" classification to represent specific package sets within the project corpus, and to reserve the "Milestone" attribute for our administrative use, to indicate specific target releases within which we anticipate ticket resolution.
