MultiVNC is a cross-platform, Multicast-enabled VNC viewer. Features include support for most encodings, ZeroConf service discovery, a seamless edge control mode á la x2vnc, and most prominently, experimental support for VNC via multicast.

MulticastVNC now automagically adapts the server's transmission rate to the capabilities of the network and clients, much like TCP. Other new features are Ultra encoding for MulticastVNC and a freely sizable receive buffer. Also, MultiVNC is now able to connect to Apple Remote Desktop servers. It is now possible to select the desired VNC encoding. Encrypted connections now work on Windows as well. On the usability front, a keyboard grab button was added that allows you to enter arbitrary key combinations like Ctrl-Alt-Del into MultiVNC without being interpreted by the local OS.
This release changes the default MulticastVNC receive buffer size to 5120 KB to play it safe. Shared windows are now view-only on Linux clients and window sharing on Windows no longer has a tray icon and distracting setup dialog. Overall, window sharing should be more stable now. Link latency measuring is much more exact now. A crash on startup when the toolbar was disabled has been fixed. The Windows build was fixed, as MultiVNC 0.4 was unusable on Windows.
MultiVNC can now connect to IPv6 servers, and its MulticastVNC mode now incorporates a NACK mechanism that makes multicasting a lot more reliable: lost packets are retransmitted if the server supports it. Furthermore, MultiVNC now supports Quality of Service: data sent to a VNC server can be marked for expedited forwarding. Finally, a bug was fixed where changing edge connector settings would crash MultiVNC.
This release implements window sharing, an edge connector similar to x2vnc, and a FastRequest feature that improves framerates on high latency links. Additionally, it fixes a bug where a fast VNC server would make the GUI unresponsive on a slow client, another one where saving the log or screenshot would terminate the connection, and a bug where setting up a connection would take very long due to unnecessary DNS lookups.
MulticastVNC is now incorporated. You can now connect to a MulticastVNC-enabled server, e.g. based on patched libvncserver. Other new features: VNC listen mode (Reverse VNC) was implemented. Via tabs, it is possible to listen for and serve multiple incoming connections. Bookmarks are working now. Several nasty bugs have been fixed.
