Parti is a tabbing/tiling (one might say
"partitioning") window manager. Its goal is to
bring this superior window management interface to
modern, mainstream desktop environments.

With this release, Parti's window manager backend
has been split off into a separate package,
"wimpiggy", and it received substantial
enhancements which are detailed under its entry.
The code still remaining in Parti proper is now
mostly a wimpiggy test-bed, to be expanded in the
future.
The main addition in this release is a (mostly)
comprehensive automated test suite, as well as
fixes for many bugs discovered while writing the
test suite. This release remains very much a
prototype, suitable for hacking and
experimentation rather than actual use.
This initial release contains basic window manager
functionality (including substantial ICCCM/EWMH
compliance, focus handling, etc.), and it doesn't
seem to crash in normal operation. It has no
useful UI on top of this beyond a simple
placeholder for testing.
