gipfel is a tool to find the names of mountains or points of
interest on a picture. It uses a database containing names
and GPS data. With the given viewpoint (the point from
which the picture was taken) and two known mountains on
the picture, it can compute all parameters needed to
compute the positions of other mountains on the picture.
gipfel can also generate (stitch) panorama images.

Gifsicle is a powerful command-line program for manipulating GIF image files. It has good support for transparency and colormap manipulation, simple image transformations (cropping, flipping), and creating, deconstructing, and editing GIF animations. It can also optimize GIF animations for space. Also included is a GIF animation viewer and a program that checks whether two GIFs look the same.

CamStream is a tool for webcams and TV grabber cards that allows for streaming video from multiple video sources. It can save and/or upload (FTP) timed snapshots. It provides a GUI frontend to control the video devices.

Bino is a stereoscopic 3D video player with multi-display support. It supports many 2D and 3D video formats, a wide range of display devices, and distributed multi-display video presentation, e.g. for multi-projector setups.

Tintii is a photo filter for selective color, saturation, and hue shift photo adjustments. Its unique ability is to automatically detect the major colors in a photo to isolate changes to local areas, making adjustments quick, easy, and more precise than other means.

Exiv2 is a C++ library and a command line utility for managing image metadata. It provides fast and easy read and write access to the Exif, IPTC, and XMP metadata of images in many formats. The Exiv2 command line utility prints Exif, IPTC, and XMP metadata including Makernote tags in various formats, adjusts Exif timestamps, renames images according to the Exif timestamp, extracts and inserts Exif, IPTC, and XMP metadata and JPEG comments, or deletes the thumbnail or a specific type of metadata from an image.

vsdump is a set of tools that are useful for
reverse engineering the VSD/VSS file format used
by Visio.

The DVB Driver Project has very good drivers for DVB cards by many manufacturers (e.g., Hauppauge WinTV DVB-s and WinTV Nova, Siemens, Technotrend, Galaxis, and Technisat). It supports DVB-s, DVB-t, and DVB-c.

TDFSB reads directory information and displays it
as a 3D world. cd'ing into another directory is
possible by simply walking into the assigned
sphere. It also reads images and text files and
displays their contents. It plays MP3 files and MPEG-1 videos as 3D objects.

flpsed is a WYSIWYG PostScript annotator. You can't actually edit existing documents, but you can add arbitrary text lines to existing documents. Added lines can later be re-edited with flpsed. Using pdftops, flpsed can import PDF documents and also add text to them. It is useful for filling in forms, adding notes, etc. In batch mode, it can be used to automate form filling.

This package contains frontends to SANE ("Scanner Access Now Easy"), including xscanimage, xcam, and scanadf. Xscanimage is a GTK-based application for scanning images that can also be used as a GIMP-plugin. Xcam is used to get images from cameras supported by SANE. Scanadf is a command line frontend especially suited for scanners equipped with automatic document feeders (ADF).

AutoTrace is a program for converting bitmaps to vector graphics. The aim of the AutoTrace project is the development of a freely-available application similar to CorelTrace or Adobe Streamline. In some aspects it is already better. Originally being created as a plugin for the GIMP, AutoTrace is now a standalone program and can be compiled on any UNIX platform using GCC.
