The c42-backup suite is a simple program for maintaining a central backup in a small, but distributed environment with a central file share. It is a wrapper around the tar backup facility. The main objectives of c42-backup are common, simple configuration of backup tasks; to use the same configuration for full and incremental backups; to provide a network-wide index of backups; to separate creating and compressing of backup files; and to delete outdated backup files automatically.
The RAZip bitstream format was designed to provide a faster random access to
compressed data than what is currently possible using the GZIP format. Its
major features include fast random access to compressed data, freedom from
patents, single-pass coding/decoding using a bounded amount of intermediate
storage, the ability to choose from one of many algorithms for compression,
encryption, or error correction, and comprehensive support for Unix file
metadata, Macintosh file metadata, and arbitrary file metadata.

Filesystem Backup is a utility which displays local mounted filesystems, and based on a tape size one defines, can group filesystems and backup them up efficiently using the maximum tape space. It also writes a log of each backup, which you can read to restore files.
dbackup is a disk-based client-server backup system for Linux or other UNIX systems. It works on the principle that disks are cheaper and more reliable than tapes. Backups are started by cron, probably on a daily basis, by the client. The client backs up individual filesystems or directories with tar and sends the result to the server, which stores them in a simple tree-based directory structure. Restores are trivial, either by using the supplied restore client, or by simply copying the appropriate tar files off the server and uncompressing them.

SaraB works with DAR (Disk ARchive) to schedule and
rotate backups on random-access media (i.e. hard drives,
CDs, DVDs, Zip, or anything else except magnetic tapes). It
provides a powerful rotation schedule which allows
administrators to create a custom rotation that fits the
needs of their network. There is no need to worry about
manually rotating, labeling, and properly storing the tapes.
It supports the Towers of Hanoi, Grandfather-Father-Son, or
any custom backup rotation strategy. It is easy to use and
highly configurable.
Loafre is a high-performance, dynamic, advanced file replication system for Lustre 2.0 filesystems. It constantly monitors filesystem changes and takes action on those changes.
Random Access Backup (RAB) is a simple backup system featuring backups to removable media, like DVD RAM, MO media, and CD. Files to be backed up are first written to a removable medium. When enough files have accumulated, RAB writes a checkpoint of the current backup state to CD. The primary part of RAB is a library which may be used to create customized backup applications for your special needs.

BackUp Tool archives specified projects by copying them into a backup directory if the MD5 checksums of the files have changed. It can be executed periodically using cron.
MySQL Check/Backup/Notification periodically
checks the tables of a MySQL Server using the
BACKUP, CHECK, OPTIMIZE, and ANALYZE commands and
alerts you if anything is wrong.
Cryptosync is tool that makes compressed and
encrypted incremental backups. That way, one can
efficiently copy the files to another location
with normal rsync. Not only are the file contents
encrypted, but also the filename, mode, owner, and
group information are stored encrypted.
qdsync tries to make two directories the same by
comparing file sizes and copying new or changed
files across in both directions, meaning you don't
need to supply a "from" and "to" directory. It
works for local and (some) FTP directories.

myBackware is a set of scripts that create a
regular set of database dump files for the
disaster recovery of MySQL servers. It uses
MySQL's mysqldump to create backups as either a
filesystem-stored snapshot or as an email
attachment. Either method has the option to
compress and GPG-encrypt the dump file.

flmkisofs is a very simple program for creating ISO images with the mkisofs program. It can create DVD video ISO images, Apple ISO filesystems, HFS/ISO filesystems, and El Torito or Generic bootable ISO filesystems. It fully supports versions 1 through 3 of the ISO filesystem standard, with RockRidge and Joliet extensions, and has partial UDF support.

iSCSI-SCST is an iSCSI (Internet SCSI) target
implementation on top of SCST, a mid-level SCSI
target subsystem for the Linux kernel. This
software makes it possible for remote systems to
access local storage over any TCP/IP network.
bzip2smp parallelizes the bzip2 compression process to achieve a near-linear performance increase on SMP machines. On a two-processor Xeon machine, the speedup is around 180%. The tool's main purpose is to aid performing heavy-duty server backups. It can also be used on modern desktop multicore processors (such as AMD Athlon64 X2 and Intel Pentium D).
