mgadvd is a Matrox G200/Zoran 36700 hardware MPEG decoder driver for Linux. It allows you to play MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and DVD streams through the Zoran 36700 Vaddis III decoder (connected to the G200) with very low CPU usage. Supported DVD audio formats are AC3 (Dolby Digital) and PCM. Included is a player app called mzplay that plays DVD directly from the disc as well as MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video and audio (Layer II only) files.

NetOculus is a network monitoring system that
provides all the functions of the well-known
monitoring system MRTG. It also has a number of
its own benefits. It can automatically monitor any
kind of detectable alteration in a computer
network (and in relatively separated network
areas). It can efficiently notify staff about
hardware state changes. Analytical information is
aggregated. Specific pieces of hardware are
associated with the staff members who responsible
for them. The solutions for solved problems are
reported to the staff for further use.

Modem.pl is a small script that scrapes the Web
interface of a Motorola SURFboard cable modem for
various status conditions like signal strength and
signal to noise ratio. The results are sent to
STDOUT where they can be easily piped into a log
file. The modem values are also checked for
reasonable operating ranges. If the modem values
are outside of reasonable operating ranges,
results are also sent to STDERR. When run from a
cron job, modem.pl can be used to monitor the
condition of the cable service and notify someone
before conditions cause service interruptions.

pcwd is a Linux Kernel driver for Berkshire Products' ISA and PCI PC Watchdog Card with /proc support. It automatically reboots your machine upon a crash.

The USB Keyboard Target TTY Extension is a Linux kernel patch which allows you to bind the input/keybdev.c driver which is used for USB keyboard input to a specific console. In essence, this allows you to use Linux with two keyboards (PS/2 and USB) and have the USB keyboard attached to, for example, tty5 to control a speech-based application like Emacspeak, and have your PS/2 keyboard function as before. If you can stand audio output for Websurfing, you get a Linux PC with two terminals.

The Linux Memory Technology Device project provides a unified subsystem for handling RAM and Flash cards (Memory Technology Devices), including various flash translation layers to emulate block devices, and filesystems which run directly on flash chips.

COSA and SRP are synchronous serial boards for ISA bus which have two channels. Each channel can be set up to one of the X.21, V.24, V.35 and V.36 hardware interfaces. The Linux kernel driver and user-space tools serve for setting up and using the COSA and SRP boards under Linux. It allows you to use it with the following link-level protocols: Cisco HDLC , synchronous PPP, or as the frame-based character device.

connections of a computer on an external or
internal LCD display.

BigDaddy is a program for monitoring servers. It is similar to Nagios, with the added benefit of also monitoring and controlling the crontab (or any scheduled application) across an entire fleet of servers. The application comes in the form of a daemon for monitoring and reporting as well as an easy-to-use Web-based GUI for controlling monitoring, viewing timelines of incidents, filing incidents and graphing statistics. The application is extensible with any sort of monitoring module and notification is based on a five step escalation process.

The WebReboot Plugin for Nagios is a suite of
commands that can be used within Nagios to monitor
a server and take corrective action if necessary
via the WebReboot line of products. For example,
the plugin can be used to alert you if a host is
powered down, versus simply not responding to
network requests. Likewise, it can be used to
reboot a server if a host fails to respond to
ping, or to shut down a server when a critical
temperature threshold is exceeded. The commands
can be mixed-and-matched with all existing Nagios
commands, maximizing total network coverage.

The Autofs CD Changer patch allows you to automount the different slots of a CD changer. It automatically changes the slots and remounts CDs as needed, giving the impression that they are all simultaneously mounted. It's not much use for multisession stuff, but works fine for mp3 lists that span many CDs.

Remote SNMP Powerswitch Control is a script that
uses SNMP to control an APC PowerSwitch power
controller. It allows you to cycle any port via
the command line. This is useful for automatically
rebooting machines that stop responding to pings,
for example.
